WASHINGTON (AP) — The National Guard still has enough money on hand to complete the training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets despite the U.S. running out of funds to send additional weapons and assistance to Kyiv, the head of the Guard Gen. Dan Hokanson said Thursday. President Joe Biden announced in August that the U.S. would begin training Ukrainian pilots on the F-16, as part of a multi-national effort to provide Ukraine the advanced fighter jets. Pilot training began in October at Morris Air National Guard base in Tucson, Ariz. But the pilot training has been able to continue, Hokanson said. “We do have the resources to continue the training that’s already started,” Hokanson said, and get that initial tranche completed this year.

Costs have risen the most on multifamily properties such as apartments and condos, according to industry executives and data from credit ratings agency Moody's. Property insurance costs to multifamily assets in Florida have gone up anywhere from 30% to 70% in the past year, and are even higher for those with prior losses, non-renewing insurance carriers or valuation issues, she said. Nationally, CRE properties' insurance costs have grown roughly 7.6% annually on average since 2017, according to an August Moody's report. RENTS, CAP RATESRising insurance premiums on multifamily properties have contributed, among other factors, to rent increases in Florida and elsewhere, said three industry executives. Insurance costs are also forcing CRE lenders to boost due diligence on refinancing and when pricing deals on apartment blocks, executives said.

Twenty men and women in military fatigues huddled around a 19th-century painting of a fiery sunset at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on a recent Saturday afternoon. They leaned toward the vivid picture of the Ukrainian wilderness as their tour guide spoke. The program was announced three years ago but interrupted by Covid and bureaucratic hurdles. Blake Ruehrwein, an Air Force veteran who also runs education and outreach at the Naval War College Museum in Newport, R.I., was instructing a new unit learning the ropes from some of the world’s top art experts. “Take what you learn from here and apply it,” he told the officers attending the museum workshop in early June.
